It is only too much if your doctor tells you it is too much. You may be one of the people that gains a bunch of weight at the start of your pregnancy, and then doesn't gain anything for awile and then gains a bunch closer to the end.
I think that you are fine, but I am not a doctor

That's about what I have gained...I'm 21 weeks pregnant and I've gained 10 pounds. I was overweight when I got pregnant too. The doctor told me that I should only gain about 20-25 pounds total...but I'll tell you now, that's not gonna happen! I think you should be alright...my aunt gained 80 lbs with each baby, and lost it soon after the baby was born, so I think we're doin alright! Congrats and good luck with everything!!

I had gained about 10 lbs at 20 weeks in all my pregnancies so it doesn't seem too far off the mark. I don't know how much "kinda" overweight is though. I gained between 25-30 with all mine and the weight came off quickly.

Well, a "normal" weight gain would be about 25 pounds for the entire pregnancy if you were a little bit overweight. If your doctor tells you that you are gaining too quickly, then ask if they can refer you to a dietician. They can help you come up with a healthy eating/exercise plan for pregnancy because this is no time to diet.

Every pregnancy is different. The ideal is 20-30 pnds depending on your pre pregnancy weight. But I promise you won't get overweight if you eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, drink lots of water, and eat lean meats and whole grain carbs. I gained allot of weight with all three of my pregnancies but it comes off as long as you take care of yourself. And don't be afraid to indulge in those pregnancy cravings, just limit your portions. One scoop of ice cream won't hurt but a tub of it will. It is all just common sense. A really good resource is the Canada food guide ( I am sure the US has one to). Also be careful of "hidden" calories like fruit juice. A glass of pure apple juice can have 110 calories, it is much better for you and baby to have a glass of water and eat an apple. Also as long as it is okay with your doc try walking or some other mild exercise, not only will it help you from gaining weight but the better shape your body is in the easier it will be to deliver and care for baby in those first few months. Good luck and congratulations.

17 weeks is almost 4 and a half months, so no it doesn't sound like too much.
Most of that weight is fluid, baby, placenta, blood, etc.
Be extremely happy that you have only gained 11 pounds.
Each woman varies with weight gain, I have seen some that gain 20 pounds, by the time their post partum check up comes, they are back to their pre preganancy weight.
If you are concerned about weight gain, talk with your doctor at your next prenatal visit.
Remember to continue to eat a variety of foods, fruits, cheese, vegatables, lean meats, and drink lots of water.
If you are concerned about exersice during pregnancy, again, ask your doctor, he/she can advise you on the best types of low impact activities that are safe on both you and the baby.
I recommend walking, low impact, good cardio work out, and allows the joints of your hips to remain flexible for those last months when they need to spread to make room for baby.
It is also strengthens the pelvic muscles, making labor go by quickly and delivery super easy.
Yes, it does work, my first labor was 6 hours, start to finish.

As long as you are eating healthy foods, try not to worry too much about it. You can lose weight after baby is born, and if you breastfeed you can expect to lose weight VERY quickly. I gained alot of weight with each pregnancy (over 50 lbs) and lost it all and then some. I don't think 11 lbs is alot, sounds about right.
Congrats to you.

That is about the proper weight gain, you may be a couple pounds ahead. If your doctor's aren't concerned than relax. Make sure you are eating nutritious foods. Fruits vegetables grains. Stay away from fatty foods, than you won't have to worry.

After 16 weeks gestation, you should start to gain approximately 2-3lbs per month.
That is saying you had nausea and had morning sickness.
