I know some families who homeschool their kids. These kids are going to be homeschooled even in high school.
If you were homeschooled, did you have troubles adjusting to college and to life in general?

I am home schooled and am sure to keep myself VERY social. Going to summer programs and hanging out with friends. When you're home schooled and not social that becomes a hindrance in your life after, and even during school, because you don't learn how to deal with racism, prejudice, teasing, etc. that's what happened to me when I first entered public school in 5th grade: people stole money from me and I couldn't comprehend what kind of game they were playing on me.
In 6th grade I developed depression that lasted a long time because kids use to pick on me for so many things. Now I'm in 10th grade and am home schooled again, but I keep myself busy by working and other social activities that can keep me from falling under social pressure.

HomeSchooled kids usually do better in College than public school kids. Homeschooled kids are more likely to be taught to be self-starters and capable of working on their own as well as in a group. Also, Most Homeschooled kids have higher test scores than the public school kids and do not require remedial classes. Going to College is always a big adjustment in EVERY bodies life. However, Home schooled kids are usually secure enough in themselves and their abilities...as well as firmly grounded in their beliefs that they have less trouble than others. The Lack of Socialization problems are all a Myth pertaining to Home Schooled kids. I believe that myth is spread by the Public School Teachers Unions in order to perpetuate their Near Total Dominance on what and How people are taught in America. Great Question!

Myself? I went to Public school...However, I know 3 families with a total of 11 kids between them ranging from age 12-25 and they are all perfectly normal well adjusted successful members of society! Their parents cared ALOT about this and paid for the teaching aids/resources themselves and did a great job!

I think that if kids are homeschooled and have no real kind of contact with other kids their age, they have trouble adjusting. But if they do have that contact, then things are normally ok. I've had a few family members who did homeschooling and they turned out fine b/c they are active with their church and kids their own age.

I have friends who homeschool their 3 children.

Home schooling is now a serious organization.
They are involved in organized sports with other home school students and activities. Many are academically ahead of public school kids.

How well they adjust to college depends on the personality of the student.

My older sister home schooled both of her children, and the oldest is now in college... She's smart as a tack, got scholarships, the whole nine yards... but she parties like a MANIAC. She says she's making up for all of the socialization she didn't get when she was being home schooled. I think it's just an excuse, but it IS something to think about. She's flunking her morning course because she doesn't go to class... She spends that time 'recuperating' from the night before. She LITERALLY gets drunk every night, unless she's broke. (We're pretty close in age and she tells me everything. LOL)

My Sister Home Schooled her girls, through all grades. They have been in College awhile now, and cannot seem to adjust, in the larger class rooms, and in their dorm rooms. The one, has actually become ill, and does not want to go back. The other is trying to hang-in, but her struggle is on-going.

There shouldn't be any problems if it's done right! Kids that are socialized during their home-schooling do fine...

yes big problem, why? they are not used to other kids around them, they are not used to sharing the classroom or other things, and also competing in class could be tough for them.
