I know this is kinda dumb to ask but what does crown to rump mean? Is it the head to butt? Or what? I read it in my pregnancy book.

the crown of the head, is not quite the top, it's the part of the head that first shows when birthing your baby. The rump is the part of the butt that's rounded and sticking out when your laying in the fetal postion. Try going to babycenter.com to get more answers.

Head to tail measurement - used only in the first trimester of a pregnancy to determine gestational age. After the firs trimester, much more of the baby is visible and the gestational age is calculated using a biparietal diameter (head diameter = BPD), head circumference (HC), femur length, humerus length, abdominal circumference and foot length. A weighted average of all of these determines 2nd and 3rd trimester gestational age, but the best dating sono you can have is actually in the first trimester.

Congrats on the baby!!
