yes, the only difference in the two cars is the body-the frames, mechanicals and the suspension are the same
if the 305 is Fuel Injected, you will have to put an electric fuel pump on the car, as the Buick was a carbureted engine

It will not bolt up, since the 81 was still using the old buick block, which used the BOP (buick olds pontiac) bellhousing bolt pattern. The 86 uses the chevy 305, and it will not bolt up to the transmission or the motor mounts. You can get motor mounts from a monte carlo which I believe will work in the buick, but the transmission will still have to be changed. If you can get the grand prix tranmission and put it in there too, you will probably be just fine then.

i do no longer understand on the subject of the Honda, yet between the Grand Prix and Regal, I solid my vote for the Buick. The Regal GS replaced into the supercharged variation of the Regal, whilst the Grand Prix GT had the clearly aspirated version of the 3800 series II. yet, the Grand Prix GTP replaced into supercharged, the comparable 3800 it extremely is interior the Regal GS. And that got here as a coupe from 1997 till 2002. i could decide for a GTP over a Regal GS, yet i will take the GS over a GT. Make experience? reliable success!

Sethle 99 is correct, but the drive shaft yoke would have to be changed as the spline count is different. (possible drive shaft length also)
Also you could use a bell housing conversion plate to use the GP tranny.
