She already has all of the usual things. Is there anything sort of weird, but useful that I can get her?

Being in College myself I can tell you right now what I would enjoy as a present,

1) Vitamine B tablets, they lessen the serverity of any hang over, as well as prolong the effect of it in your system.

2) A journal/ address book to keep in touch with friends and family

3) Gift certificates to resturants around the college that will be frequented often

4) Dorm fridge and small pantry with enough room to stock my own food for a change

Just some ideas of what I would personally want, but if its for your sister get her something that holds meaning for the two of you...she'll love it no matter what I'm sure. College adventures are a dime a dozen, but sisters are a rare treasure. Remember that.

A telephone calling card. A Wal-mart gift card for those little things that were forgotten. A box of note cards already addressed and stamped so she can write to you. A book of coupons to a fast food restaurant. An inspirational or humorous calendar with important birthdays and anniversaries already filled in so during her hectic schedule, she can still remember them. A framed picture of you and her together that will inspire a fun memory. A one-cup coffee maker for those late nights of studying. A digital camera so she can email you pix of her life on campus.

This is very thoughtful of you. My heart would just melt when my little brother gave me a gift "just because". I thought it was the sweetest thing. I'm sure she will love whatever you get her.

I would get her a beautiful little trinket box and on the inside put a silver necklace with a locket and charms. She can use the trinket box to put her rings, earrings, pocket change, etc.

Add to her collection to symbolize each passage in her life. My grandmother did that, my best friend and I do that, and I even started one for my niece.

I saw a cute artifical flower arrangment once that used school supplies, a few candies, and other objects, attached to the stems of the arranment or used as the stem itself.

Another one I saw was a wreath that was decorated with school supplies, candy and other useful items. They were tied on for easy removal, and the person could take off the items as needed.

This picture uses candybars as the flower tops, but really...you can use anything you want, calling card, gift card, candy, any school supplies, ect. http://www.bluechopsticks.com/product.asp?prodid=1784

If you search the site it should give you some ideas on what to make.

A small album or scrap book of pictures of family and friends, and be sure to put in some of the embarrassing ones to make her laugh. Then you can make a gift basket out of a shower caddy and fill it with her preferred brands of "stuff". Don't forget to include snacks. Or maybe even a gift card to a nearby grocery store.

Get a picture frame with a wide frame and decorate it personally-make it creative and something she would like. For instance, I love reptiles...if you were giving it to me, you could put little rubber lizards on it and things like that.

Find a cute picture of the two of you and stick it in the frame. Wrap it and give it to her with a little poem or phrase, and it will be something she can look to for comfort when she's homesick.

The scrapbook idea is the best. That's very sweet. She'd love it, no matter how much she's looking forward to being out in the world on her own, she'll miss you and would love to have something that reminds her of home.

Give her two boxes. One of condoms with a note that says, if unused by Christmas open second box. The second box should contain a vibrator.
