B/c your alternator is going out. If it cranks the battery is ok. But if it doesn't even turn the engine then its your battery.

Because your Battery died!

your alternator might have gone out and drained the battery and caused the car to die...

best way to tell if its your batt. or alt. start the car while running pull the positive batt. cable off if the car dies its your alt. if not its your batt. simple as that no you will not blow up or get shocked just dont touch the positive cable to any metal
