when i turn on my computer to go online, i click, Start, then internet explorer. but at times it doesn't open

for almost 45 seconds. if i click it three or four times the pages will all come eventually at the same time. what is wrong and how i can get rid of this problem? it's only reaslly been happening past few weeks

Sounds like you have a lot of stuff running in the background:

Run the msconfig utility.

Go to Start, then Run and type in: msconfig
Go to the startup tab
You will see a list of all the programs that are loaded when your computer starts up. Uncheck any that you do not have to have. (Usually you can uncheck them all). If you decide you to need one, you can go back and recheck it.

i would run a virus and spyware scan
also try defragging the hard drive
just right click on the c:
choose properties
then the tools tab
then defragment now
you can try this too
click start then run then type cmd
that brings up a black window called the command prompt
now type this chkdsk /f /r
hit enter
you will get a message stating the computer cant do that now do you want to do it the next time you reboot type yes and enter
then exit out of there and reboot your pc
when it reboots it will do some extra steps before you can log in
