I noticed it about two weeks ago. During the night they would bite at my feet and legs. Well, now they are everywhere. I gave my cat a flea bath and put advantage on her. Im had using bug bombs, so I bought some natural carpet powder you put on the carpet thats supposed to kill the fleas. I wanted to use something natural since i have a 2 yr old, a cat, and fish that i didnt want to get sick cause of the stuff. Well.... Im still twice as bit up as I was yesturday. Im going to vacuum like a ton of times today and hope that helps... but what can I do beside bug bombs? Anything natural that is safe to use around animals and children? I seriously have at least 100 bites on my body, and im going insane!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

Ok, so I vacuumed again like crazy, and even vacuumed my bed and my sons bed. I checked for bed bugs the other day just to be sure, since i noticed the flea's more at night, but no bed bugs. But I still vacuumed like crazy to get anything. I think im gonna call around and see about this "knockout" if it doesnt work, then Im left to Bomb or hire someone... but I hate hiring someone.. this problem started from day one of moving into the apartment we live at now. My cats got infested when i moved her, and the vet said the apt. HAD to be infested before we moved in for our cats to have that many fleas, but the apartment manager says its our cats, our problem... so yeah. Oh gosh, i itch like crazy. Its disgusting! Lets hope I can kill some more of those darn little things. I heard for ever 1 flea you see, there are at least 50 more... Geesh... sooo not funny now that I have so many!!!

The very best product to use is Raid Fumigator...Its better than a bomb...the mist is more like a smoke and penetrates into places that most sprays and bombs wont. You must remove your pets....check about the fish....usually a good cover and stopping filtration will protect the fish.
Fleas have a 10 day cycle so eggs that didnt die in the first treatment should be killed with another fumigator in 10 days.

Are you sure it is a flea problem and not a bed bug problem? There are serious outbreaks now with bedbugs.. they are making a comeback.
If it is a flea problem, I strongly recommend:
a) giving the cats a bath again with the flea shampoo and putting the cats and fish someplace else while you:
b) spray the house completely with flea insecticide.. not those bombs but a spray.. If you have a little money... you might hire a professional to come in and spray the house.

You have to re-treat fleas, as anything you use today will not affect their eggs, which now live in your carpets. The old-school trick is to catch successive generations right after they hatch and before they mature enough to multiply. Most modern flea-specific sprays address this by interfering with the life cycle - the new fleas are born barren and sterile.
Once you've gotten rid of them, make sure you keep your pets on one of the modern flea treatments. Use the ones you get from your veterinarian (try an on-line source if you don't use a vet), as the ones you get over the counter do NOT work well. We treat our pets (two dogs and three cats) once a month and we haven't seen a flea in years.
I'm including a link to an exhaustive discussion of fleas and their eradication. Best of luck to you!

Im having the same problem boy those fles make you itch bad i know its misreable Ihave tried knockout its good ! i jsut dont have the money right now to buy it and the frontline for the cats is very good too but all together with 3 cats is expensive since i got to shop for 3 kids going to school so right now im using plates full of soapy water under lights it attracts the fleas and they drown and for the cats im using brewers yeast and garlic powder sprinkled on the food. so far its working! You can buy brewers yeast in pill form crush it up i do it in a zip lock with a hammer mix 1/2 tsp brewers yeast and 1/4 tsp garlic powder sprinkle onto canned food so far the fleas are disapearing from the cats.

Go to your vet and buy FRONTLINE ...it's a miracle product that will keep the fleas away for a month. It is around $14 for each month, but sooo worth the money. Read http://frontline.us.merial.com/home/
It's the only thing that will work unless you don't let your pets in the house anymore.
Also, if you want to immediately get rid of the existing fleas, bomb the house as well.

I would suggest the bombs and get everyone out of the house for a few hours, including the fish. But if you absolutely refuse to do that, there is this spray stuff you can get at the vet. I honestly don't know how well it will work your fleas, b/c it sounds like you have a lot! But, I do know the longer you wait, the harder they are to get rid of. They multiply!! I think you should get the bombs and leave for a few hours! Good Luck!!

I think you are doing the right things, but at this point it's a matter of time. You have to wait for the advantage to work, it does not kill all the fleas, eggs and larva instantly. Advantage is better than frontline for killing fleas, but frontline kills ticks whereas advantage does not.
To protect yourself, eat a whole clove of RAW garlic before bedtime. It makes your blood bitter and you smell bad to the fleas. However, you should not have detectable body odor, except for garlic breath. If your tummy is sensitive, eat it with some bread or something starchy. Remember the garlic has to be raw. Wash your bedding and treat your furniture as well.

Bug bombs go straight up and come down they don't get under the bed and in the cracks along side the wall. There is a product called Knockout by Virbac that you can spray in your home and it will keep the eggs from hatching! Good luck.

In addition to the bug bombs you need to vacuum like crazy, including your bed and furniture. Fleas also don't care for citrus smell, but it sounds like you need heavy duty chemicals and cleaning. Also wash all your linens, slipcovers, pet beds, etc.
Do you have a new bed? If it's a new to you bed, but not brand new you might check for bed bugs too.

Get some night lights and plug them in. Below them place a bowl of water with some dishwater soap in it. Just leave them there until the amount of fleas tells you to change it. Try it because it does work.
