Let me start by saying I do not think this threat is not real. I think there was/is a threat and I can't say it's been permanently resolved but I commend the people who exposed it.
That said, I think the press and the politicians in both the US and the UK are blowing this WAY out of porportion. I think there will be a lot of unneeded media hype over this because the parties in power in both the US and the UK have very low approval ratings and to top it off, it is an election year in the US. I've already noticed a pattern of the terror threat level in the US being raised whenever there is bad press for the Republicans (and especially when there's breaking scandal involving the Bush administration). With the elections coming up, I think the Republicans are going to really flood us with this latest terrorist threat because their party is traditionally seen as stronger on national defense and they need to rally all the support that they can get.
What it comes down to--- a carefully crafted terrorist plot will sneak below the "radar" of law enforcement. Otherwise they will be caught and not be successful. Catching terrorists is a great thing and stopping plots before they can turn into attacks keeps us safe but we should not let this news make us live in fear. And we should definitely not let this news make us vote out of fear!
Do not let it make you scared or emotional. Law enforcement did their job, and that's a good thing.

I am a little on edge and very sad. I think of my daughter, who is only 4 1/2 and sometimes wonder how this world will be for her when she grows up. Life itself can be hard enough, but to have to worry about some dumb terrorists who just kill for sport, is horrible. I don't want her to have to live on edge her whole life.
I do feel somewhat like I did on 9/11, like there is no place safe on Earth anymore. It's so unsettling. I'm just thankful that the losers were caught before their plan could be carried out.

I thank god it was thwarted. After seeing it all over the news this AM I tried to put it out of my mind but all of a sudden an air raid siren went off somewhere and so I put on local news and all of a sudden 2 choppers flew over my house really low. I live about 10 miles from a small airport. I still don't know what it was but I am still a little shaken.

Yes, this is the first that the US has invoked the red level. To feel better you might try try shifting your focus a bit. Try taking a moment and consider how many hard working men and women were responsible for detecting and then stopping what would have been horrible. Heathrow is a huge airport. Think about how many people and the planning to shut down the airport and catch that many people at that many gates. Someones on the ball. And instead of the vague general fear and uneasiness that many people feel maybe you could replace it with a bit of anger. Instead of targeting say police stations, military bases, power plants, etc. to make their statement they chose planes. Men, women, children, families, the young and old. People who don't even vaguely have anything to do with anything. Think about how those people who almost got on those planes must feel because if it were not for the grace of god and someones diligence they would not be here today. Yep, try a bit of anger instead of fear because the terrosist whole point is instilling fear.

I must admit I do have the same feeling like on 9/11. Sorta nervous, not knowing what may happen.
I would love nothing more than just to stay home from work & be with my family tonight..... Just incase something bad happens.
If it does I'll probably get irrate, freak out & want to go home...
I just pray nothing catastrophic comes to pass.
Just waiting for Jesus to come back in the mean time.

I live in a remote rural area of the UK well away from Heathrow etc but I am nervous for those who do live and work near transatlantic airports and planes etc and also anyone who is planning to fly in the next few days. If I was booked to fly to America in the next few days I would probably cancel, I have to say. I couldn't take the stress!!!

It should'nt be scary at all i mean just live your life and if for some reason you come across these types of things just set it in Gods hands only he knows why these thing are occuring. It simply easy to do leave it to him he'll take care of it and not only that you have a huge relief on you knowing that someone else is taking care of it so theres no need to worry. Because it doesn't matter how much you worry about these things we cant do anything to stop them or change them so why not just save that for th ones that can do something about it and save us some stress... thats just what i think, dont set on your shoulders other peoples problems that will only make your life harder.

I see it a little differently.
I have a little more confidence in the government agencies who discovered this particular conspiracy and shut it down.
I never lost sight of the fact that those kind of murderous thugs are still out there, but it increases my confidence whenever they are thwarted.
