From moment to moment people's levels of happiness change. Is anyone always happy? Should they be? When you stub your toe, are you happy? When the throbbing stops, are you happy? When you have to perform an unpleasant but necessary task, should you be happy? Does a pretty garden make you happy? Are you allergic to flowers?

I think happiness is written on clouds. Meaningless and a bit overrated as a constant state of mind. Sometimes happiness is appropriate. Sometimes it is not even possible.

When it happens, enjoy it.

I'm sure this all applies to the richest and the poorest of people.

Are you happy with my answer?

Richest man, well riches may be scaled in terms of wisdom, health, spiritual and material wealth. In any case happiness is a state of mind which means a person may be down trodden but truly feels on top of the world.Of course financially Bill Gates is the riches man in the world, still he is sited to have said in an interview that sometimes he wish he wasn't who he is.Is he happy yes,but perhaps just as happy as you and I or even less.

Not necessarily. He may or may not B. Here I agree with the Answer of Tanyaa S., that the question is incomplete. Richest man in the world happy, but rich in what sense & happy in what sense ? If it's referred as monetarily, then probably yes, he should B happy, provided he's in good health, capable to control , maintain & utilises whatever he's got at his own descretion.

The answer wouldn't be different even with the "richest" from the question missing. Happiness has nothing to do whatsoever with REAL Happiness

A lot depends on the type of personality his wife has. I am not trying to be funny. Last Christmas we went on vacation to a Caribbean isle and our jet had to circle for 20 minutes to allow his two private jets to land within 5 minutes of each other. No insurance company would insure both of them if they travel together. So when they travel. He has to travel in a customized 727 by himself and his staff and she has to travel in a separate 727 with her own entourage. Now he doesn't have to say like most of us: Hurry Up--you are keeping me back. All she has to say is: Go ahead, I will meet you there. She, on the other hand has the luxury of being able to take a longer time to unravel on travel days when she wakes up miserable. I personally believe he is happy. He delegates well; he is very involved in a lot of charity work on an anonymous basis.

I think Bill Gates is fairly happy. He is responsible for his own happiness, just as you and I are.
Money just gives him opportunites to be more of what he was already. Money could distract him or help him, depending on his level of discipline, humanity and maturity.
I think I would be happy rich because I am happy "poor," and I would be able to do more of what I think is important.
