What generation do people born in 1977 belong to Gen X or Gen Y?

Long story, my friends and I got bored at work and started talking about generations etc. and we were just wondering what generation we happened to be (like it even matters) just wondering.

Gen X. It's basically growing up in the 80's. Maybe your young teen years touched the 80's, but you would be right on the edge of that time frame.

i was born in1970 and I thonk we are all generation X, I think?
