It wasn't Bush's fault that those idiots decided to come here and try to kill everyone. No matter who was president it would of happened. He is still president because he was voted in.

Though 9/11 occur ed under his watch, I believe as a society we voted him into office based on his religious views and his insistence that we'd free portions of the middle east of Saddam and the Taliban. As a side note, we shouldn't blame only Bush for 9/11, we should take into the account that our society consumes a lot of opiate based products, backs Israel, and is seen as empire hungry. All of these don't really settle well with the Taliban. On top the Taliban has bombed an Embassy in Africa, USS Cole, and Clinton retaliated by bombing a training base in August of 1998. I may not agree with Bush's policies, but this has been building for some time and to blame one individual is ludicrous.

While I didn't vote for him and don't like him as a president...there wasn't much he could do. It's not his fault some dumb idiots hijacked some planes. He did what any other president would have done.

There are several answers to your question, most of which are speculation, but all seem to fit. The first would be becuase of Republican redisctricting, which swayed the lines in favor of more republican electoral votes. The second would be because he was not elected by the majority of Americans (first election), rather by the Supreme Court (which his father and Ronnie Reagan stacked), and my favorite, I think most Americans were of the thought that he was the one who created this mess we are in, so he should be the one to clean it up, but look at how that backfired on us.
