I wanna buy GT: 4 because it seems like a really cool racing game but I'm not sure if it will be too complicated for a casual racing game fan. Help me out?

Go ahead and get it. It has a little something for everyone. It's not real complicated at all. Learning how to adjust the chassis of the car can be a little bit of a pain, but you don't need to mess with that a whole lot until you get deeper into the game. My only negative comment about this game is that I get tired of only racing with 5 other cars. Most of the time, you are either much faster than they are, or they kick your butt. If you like cars, you'll love this game.

I am a huge GT fan (I have all four games, and I think I still have saves from the first game), and while I will probably by a PS3 just for GT5 if necessary, there are some issues with the series. First is the license tests. Passing the tests isn't impossible, but getting Gold Medals is pretty darn close to it. There are several tests that, even though I have been playing the series since day 1, still take me a week to beat. Also, there are some races that, no matter what type of car you bring, are just tough. You can get a lot out of the game, and it's not impossible for a casual race fan to enjoy it. But, if you are thinking you are going to get close to 100% complete, you're in for a world of disappointment.

I don't think it's beyond the casual gamer/racer. The game takes you through different levels so it's not like you're going to start off in a high speed sports car that you can't handle. You're going to start off in smaller lower performance vehicles and progress through the game. Through the licensing tests you will learn everything you need to know about racing.By the time you've reached the upper levels you will be just fine. This game is just as good for a hardcore gamer or a casual racer. The graphics, sound, and game play are first rate and I believe you'll definitely enjoy it. I've played every Gran Turismo and have never been disappointed!!!!!!
