boiling should be fine, you could use iodine tablets
however boiling should be sufficient.
You can get a water quality report from your water company to find out what exactly is in your tap water so you are more informed

If you don't have any specific water quality concerns, why would you boil it? One thing for sure, city water (everywhere) is not fit for consumption. Sewage and water pipes ran together and the best thing is to have a good water filter. Boiling will not kill all the bacteria. It would be advisable to get an independent person to test the quality of water. One who does not sell filters and does not work for the city.

Depends. Why can't you use one of those filters that install on your tap? Save a lot of trouble.
