Mel- "It is necessary in some inner city schools, or school where alot of children go and can't afford nice clothes."

What??? So force them to buy uniforms they don't need costing 40-50 bucks a piece? yeah that makes sense.

A lot of people think uniforms are a way of unseparating financial status in schools. First of all, uniforms themselves are expensive. Second, even if you're able to get them cheap, you're still always able to tell. It's like the storry of the princess and the pea. You can always tell- Back in fifth grade I had to wear uniforms, and it didn't make a difference from the year before when I had gone to a regular school without them. I was still picked on just the same, because I was poor.

Yea..I think it's necessary. Because in the school the students should be taught to have discipline and if they are allowed to wear anything then students like girls will start wearing mini skirts or something exposive and boys will dress up like some gangsters or something. Wearing the school uniforms makes the students feel that they are in the schools and should behave like students only. And all the students will have to wear the same uniforms so no difference are gonna be there among them.

I have no statistics but,

It is necessary in some inner city schools, or school where alot of children go and can't afford nice clothes. Therefore, uniforms eliminate the pressure of what to wear to fit in because sometimes it can be impossible for children to afford clothes that will make them popular.

unfortunately yes i think its necessary... we live in a world that is very judgmental. meaning if you cant afford to wear the top line clothing you are less of a person. uniforms make it possible for children to go to school and not be judged my their parents income.

I don't think they are necessary because kids should be able to dress creatively and how they want to be dressed. Its bad enough the kids got to go to school!! If they do they should be able to dress the way they want!!!!

I think so. So many people spend way too much time worrying about what they are going to wear, and it causes stress. Stress isn't good is it?
