The New Testament was written by liberal authors of that time, self-styled disciples of Christ, men with an agenda, and not even necessarily very intelligent, so take some of the details in this revered book with a grain of salt. Some serious professors and students of the Bible will tell you the same thing, and then they will agree with me that Jesus and the Bible teach us the two Great Commandments, love of God and love of your "neighbor". Even Jesus was quoted as saying that's what it's all about.

Jesus would stand for the opposite of everything in the American dream. He would be a hippie communist unemployed freeloader pacifist. (Sounds liberal to me).
It's a good thing nobody really reads the bible and takes it seriously in America. Jesus basically said, to give up your earthly possessions and follow him. You don't need anything (except a pair of sandals and a pair of pants, I guess). He never worked once he started his public life - he just wandered, and lived off the generosity of others.
He hated rich people who professed to be pious; on the theory that everything you keep for yourself is one less thing you could have spend feeding and clothing those less fortunate. face it, even poor people on welfare in the USA are much better off than those in the third world - so nobody is living up to His expectations.
He didn't believe in fighting. His solution to conflict was to "turn the other cheek" and let them hit you again. The idea was to shame people into seeing how badly they treated you and others.
Unfortunately, most people don't behave like that (He didn't say it was easy), and most people prefer not to die just to prove the other guy is bad. Bad people really aren't often shamed by killing someone who makes it easy for them.

Although modern Christians are right wing bigots and, as you quite rightly said, uptight butt-holes, Jesus was a revolutionary figure back in his day. I think he would be an independent. He wouldn't agree with the right wing agenda of blowing up anyone who disagrees with them, and he wouldn't agree with much of the modern liberal ideology on social issues such as abortion, homosexuality and gender roles.

Wow. i'm properly established. ;-)~ Jesus substitute right into a liberal. He helped the less fortunate. He spent time with people who weren't prosperous and effectual. He did no longer worship money. He died on your sins and for mine. That, my expensive, made him a liberal. Jamie rocks! Sarah, i've got self belief sorry for you.

He would be a hippie liberal: be believed in helping the poor, the environment, he was against greed and corporate welfare, he seeked peace and was tolerant. A total lib.

Liberal. I don't think Jesus would support the killing of innocent people under the guise of liberating a country and giving them democracy.

No one was ever more Conservative than Jesus.
That's why the ACLU and the liberals hate him so much.
