seems like america needs to profile people and not slow commerce to a stand still .TIME is money as they say .
THE terrorists are causeing millions of travelers both salaried and hourly paid to wait in line eating up hundreds of milllions of dollars .
WHY do we let them win .
PROFILE and search and remove these people and let americans go on about our business.
WE know who they are .
ITS not a 60 year old from kansas that is going to blow up a plane .

How in the world would you decide just who's a terrorist? If you've listened to today's report on the terrorists in the UK, you'll know why the 60 year old woman with the bottle of water is suspect. I hate every minute of it, too, but I don't know any better answer to the problem than what is already being done. The fact that one terrorist plot was averted means they don't always win. Even so, the world is a scary place these days.

I agree.

The problem is that the rainbow crowd isn't keen on profiling. They would rather have random "delays" but of course you know they would not like to see anyone searched if we are to believe how they feel about privacy (they do back the ACLU which is making this so difficult).

We may not know who the terrorists are, but we know who they are most likely to be - and its not a lady from Kansas with bottled water.

Is it a bottle of water, and not a bottle of nitroglycerin?
Or, maybe kerosene? Hmm, hard to tell
Well, guess we can look at it, smell it, etc, but, first we have to gain access, and, of course, there's only one way to do that.
Sure, you are right in SOME of your assumptions, but, do you want to fly on a plane and have that 60yo white Kansas woman be carrying a bottle of nitro and an attitude towards the rest of the passengers?
Or, maybe she's been brainwashed, and is a sleeper?
Hmmm.. what to do, what to do... so many choices.

Once the new system is established, don't you think getting through check-in will be just as fast as before today's threat? You don't have to figure out who the terrorists are; you simply apply to rule to everyone. There, done. Fast, efficient.

(And by the way how do you know the terrorists will not be able to change whom they can recruit? The way you know is that you prevent EVERYONE from carrying on liquids--not just certain people.)

Put your scissors in your baggage. Okay, we all got used to that. Now, put your lotions and contact lense solution in your baggage.
No biggie. I think that we'll all adapt.

This is the way that we DON"T let them win.

Dealing with terrorists is a sneaky matter. As you probably know, there are reports that they have hidden themselves among Lebanese residents, and as you may not know, they have dressed up as hassidic jews and women to detonate city buses in Israel. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=68205

Please remember that this is a temporary solotion to an immediate problem. I'm sure that they will find a better solution in due time.

I'm always tempted to wear a t-shirt through the security line that says,

"More Profiling, Less Waiting"

But then I'm sure I'd get anally probed.

How does it not make everybody safer. The biggest threat to the global village, is an old lady with water. In fact, all old people are threats. especially the ones with walkers.

especially when you consider the same type devices can easily be packed in checked luggage and loaded undetected in the belly of the plane. All you need is a timer on the fuse.
