Very much so, If they have access to your computer they can send a Trojan to monitor your passwords. Within a network, even if the data is encrypted, it can be captured for play back and decrypting. Or they create what is called a MITM (Man In the Middle Attack) which the attacker poses as the server like hotmail or yahoo and passes all the data along to your email server and back to you without either computer or the server knowing that some one captures the message first and then sends it on the way.

yes, its quite easy and theres several ways to do it, hotmail is especially ez to crack, but the easiest way is to send an email from a dummy email address asking you to confirm your password, or if you can get physical access to the computer, you can place a small device between the USB port and the piece of the keyboard that hooks into the USB port, that moniters keypresses, basically it keeps the last 1000 keypresses that u used, some1 places it, comes back in a few hours, hooks it up to their comp, and it comes out as a word document, u look for the web address that they check their email from and the next thing they type should be the username and then password, but there are also many other ways....

The only way to crack your account is to trick you into revealing your password. This is called phishing.Beware of emails that ask for your account password and make sure that you dont write password down somewhere others can see it.This itself will reduce the chances,,,

2) your password is to easy and some one just figured it out
3) you told someone or someone saw you enter your password
