My explanation is I put them in this order because that is the correct order of awesomeness for these various types of awesome folks.

Ninja, Pirate, Cowboy, but they are all cool.
The ninja is the sweetest athlete and is amazingly talented (especially in karate). The pirate knows how to steer and sword fight, but is not as legendary as ninjas. Cowboys carry around guns so that is not fighting like a man, and they only have to ride horses. They do have sweet fist fights in the saloon though.
