If Yahoo!, Google, or Microsoft don't....someone else will (like, some non-U.S. company in China) and we'll lose out on billions of dollars. The censorship is not glitch-proof of course....try an image search on google.com and google.cn for "Tiananmen", then try another one mis-spelled....and you'll see what i mean ;-). In the long-run...i would think if more and more Chinese get on the net--- it'll destroy the Communist government of China.....as there are already "withdrawal movements" that have started on the internet.

How do you know for sure do you read or write any of the many types of Chinese! In other words have many contacts wide spread in China to prove this. Or just forwarding parrot statements via Question. Yahoo owner is Asian off of Page Mill road maybe!

Yahoo is a commercial venture. If they want to have access at all to the market in China, they have to play by the rules that government establishes, regardless of the feelings of people in other countries.
Commercial ventures are not required to carry rules from one country to another - they must abide by the laws of the place they are operating in.

I think I understand it's because that's the only way Yahoo! can get any access to China. It's that way or nothing. The same with Google and other services.
