Getting married this year but only plan to have kid next year, so there would be at least half a year birth control measures. Would it be harder to conceive then? and what would be a better way of prevention? (husband suggested condom rather than pills). Would like to know your advices. Thanks.

I think if you want to have a child next year you should just use condoms instead of the pill because the pill might make it harder to conceive after being on the pill!

I think your husband has the right idea. Why put your body thru the possible side effects since you are planning on having a baby so soon. Condom seems to be the right choice for short term protection. That way your body doesn't have to get use to taking the pills, then you need to wait and let them clear out of your system. So, if you both mind using condom, because they aren't the greatest things in the world, that's the way to go! Best wishes, and I truely hope all your dreams come true. God bless us all.............

I safely used birth control pills. I had not trouble getting pregnant when I went off of them. You can stop taking them one month and be pregnant the next - it is that simple. I do realize that for some it is hard to get pregnant. The simple fact is that if it is hard for you to conceive after taking birth control then it would have been hard for you anyway and isn't because you took the birth control. Go on the pill, when you get ready to have a baby, stop taking it. It is really safer to stop taking the pill two-three months before you plan to get pregnant and use condoms to prevent pregnancy. However, there have been no studies that suggest that getting pregnant directly after cessation of birth control pills increases the risk of pernatal problems or birth defects. Good Luck

The condom would be better and maybe, if you started charting your basal body temperature, you'll know the days you're fertile so you could avoid sex those days as an added measure. It's only about three. Then, when you are ready to conceive, you'll know the best days on which to have sex. Good luck and congratulations!

I would say use a condom and not the pill. That way if something does happen and you do get pregnant your not pumping birth control pills through your baby;s blood.

Don;t stay on the pill very long. A year is fine and then stop taking the pill and go out for a candle light dinner and some wine rent a suite in a Hotel and then accept it gracefully and you should get knocked up right away...P>S> make sure you ovulating and your body temp is around 100o..

i will tell you this, stay away from the depo shot,it will really help to prevent, but it messes you up soooo bad,i have been trying for another for a year now,and nothing.i would go with either the pill,or like your soon-to -be hubby says and use condoms!

i would say go the condom route. birth control pills can cause there to be sometime before you get pregnant. your hormones would have to catch up to what you supressed with the pills. good luck and congrats!

Condoms can be just as effective if used correctly, esp. if you plan on becoming parents soon, I would say definitly no to BC pills
