It's kind of pretty. My first reaction is that it means 'little salad'. It kinda beats 'Lettice' or 'Letitia', I suppose.
The other word it reminds me of, though, is 'salacious' which is not so nice. It also sounds rather like 'Sal at you!' suggesting a rather forward lady named Sal.
I don't think one needs to worry about unusual names for girls as much as one does for boys. The important thing is that you really like the name and the kid grows up being proud of it. My grand daughter has a unique name (Taranne) and she never gets teased about it ever, though it does get mispronounced by some of the family ... (no, she is NOT a 'tar-baby' ... its 'ter-ANNE' ... and she laughs with the others at 'Tyrannosaurus Rex' and 'taranne's sister, radio'. At 8 she is very acute!)
