Was? Steve Yzerman... although he didnt have the best numbers ever, he was by far the most important player to his franchise in the history of hockey, which is a team sport. Nobody has ever made everyone else around him better to the level Stevie Y did. EVER.

Now? Uh... I AM

Maurice "The Rocket" Richard was and always will be the greatest of all time. Wayne Gretzky would never be able to play back in the old days, he would not last a second. Bobby Orr was the best defense men of all time a close second would have to go to Larry Robinson for defense.

But for now Jaromir Jagr is probably still the best in the league he has been the best the past 10 years, also if Mario Lemieux wasn't injured he certainly would be up there as the best ever if he also never had cancer.

as the best goalies of all time Patrick Roy clearly the best ever with another great Martin Brodeur, Jacques Plante, Ken Dryden with 8 Stanley Cups in only 6 NHL seasons.

Sidney Crosby(PIT), Alexender Ovechkin(WAS), Cam Ward(CAR), Chris Higgins(MTL), Eric Staal(CAR), Dion Phaneuf(CAL)and Marc-Andre Fleury(PIT) will all be the real deal players for the next 20 years.

It had to be Gordie Howe!! He was the complete package as a hockey player and he played when there were only 6 teams. He could score, make plays, skate with the best of them and he was tough. He looked after himself when he was on the ice, there was no need to put a "policeman" on his line to protect him. In addition he was a class act who played hockey for the love of the game because it sure wasn't for the money that was paid to players in his era.

Ovechkin, Elias, Forsberg, Jagr (if he doesn't break his stick when he takes a shot), Gomez (when he wants to be "Mexican Torpedo), and there was this guy during the Olympics but he wasn't a part of the American NHL he played for um i think the Russian hockey league

Goalies i would say Marty Bordue

Retired Goalies it would be Patric Roy and the Mike Richter
