Technically it is yes and I have heard that in damp climates turning it off leaves it open to moisture damage but there are really good reasons to turn it off and unplug it....
1) Reduces chance of someone "targeting" your PC (if it is online).
2) Power surges are less likely to fry it if it is off.
3) Turning it off will save energy and green house gases.

When you turn the computer on there is a jolt of electricity that isn't particulary good or super harmful for the computer. You can leave the computer on all the time like I do at work, but it costs alot of electricity so at home i would turn it off. If you feel the need to leave the computer on, I would turn the monitor off (even if you have a screen saver) the reason is that after long use the monitors get weak start to not look as sharp and the quality of the screen deminishes. it also depends on what quality of a monitor you have. the computer also get's very hot even with the fan so shutting it down does good to the computer. I would not suggest leaving a laptop on 24/7 because they do not have fans to cool them down and will get hot. Laptops are known to not last as long as a desktop because of this problem.
but if your full of money that you don't know what to do with it. leave everything on and if breaks hell you don't have to worry about getting another one your loaded. but most people aren't that lucky.

Yes. I leave my home computer on all the time - and have left it on for the last 2-3 years. There's the occasional reboot - but always on (except in thunderstorms). As long as you have adequate cooling, you should be fine

I leave my pc on each of the time, yet no longer my workstation. Laptops are particularly suceptible to overheating. also followers have in straightforward words a finite existence. If a fan interior a workstation died it can be a discomfort to substitute. If I had to substitute one on the computer, it can be effortless.

It is up to you.
If you don't care about the energy being used and the possibility of being hacked, just leave it on. otherwise turn it off or put is on standby state when you are not using it.
I would prefer on-when-use policy.

turing on and off -- is not good for a computer, but having it on all day without use is just a waste of electricity. and if you only use your PC for few hours a day just turn it off.
