Does Wal-mart accept personal checks as payment for their gift cards? I'm just wondering if they do, gotta get a gift for somebody and payday isn't till tomorrow! Has anybody done this?

Folks, I will have the money in my account tomorrow morning, that's not the issue here. I just wanted to know if they accepted a check for a gift card :)

Yes I have bought a gift card with a personal check. Walmart doesn't seem to care so long as they get their money.

I am late in answering this question. Just for some info. Some Wal-marts use check21 and you will get the check back. It will not approve the check if the funds are not in the account There is no more floating of a check.

Yes, they do accept personal checks to purchase gift cards. However, if you're writing a check for money not yet in your bank account that could get expensive. Maybe you could borrow money from a friend or relative until payday. You also could write a check and post date it to the birthday person. You might be alright writing a check at Walmart but if something happens and the check clears before the monies are deposited there are lots of additional fees involved. Good-luck !

Walmart accepts checks for all of their services. Walmart.com is another matter.
I hate to admit this, but I've been in your position more times than I care to admit and I have "floated" checks at Walmart. It usually takes 2-3 days to clear my bank.

They run it through their telebanking system and if there's no money in the account, then they won't take the check.
