I think we were doing what we saw the grown ups do and no one told us that we could slow down. It was all about getting your drivers license, getting away and be independent. I for one thought that everyone got married and had children that's the way it was so suppose to be. No one said to me like you are speaking to the teens now, to get your education, get a career and don't marry the first jerk that says I love you. Wish they had computers back then.

My 16th Birthday is approaching in about 2 weeks and as I read this, it is exactly what my parents tell me. But I would like to voice my opinon on this.

In school, we are being pushed towards growing up. I am taking 5 AP courses and I have to balance extracirriculars and my whole life right now. We feel like we can handle "grown up" things because we are not being treated like children. We can even drive, something children can not.

The adult world seems very glamourous, and everyone knows teenage years are hard. When you say "make the most of my child years"... that can not possible mean high school. Teenagers are not children but on the otehr hand, they are not adults either. They are in a transition stage, whcih is very tough, and adults sometimes forget that. Everyone knows you cant go backwards, time keeps moving and never slows down. The past it gone and future is coming. So all we want to do is get out of this stage of our life... and move on to the next: Adulthood.

Absolutely right! Seems to be a huge issue today with kids wanting to get into "adult" things at an earlier age than ever. Childhood can never be repeated, so why the big hurry to experience things that can and should be postponed??

Wish more kids/teens would understand this. Enjoy being a kid while you can because it goes by quickly and can't be relived.
