i also gotta say essex boys was a great british organsid crime film,it was based on a real story in the early 90s,when the rave scene was big they used to smuggle extact into the country but then sli[ped up by going to this major sounth east london organised gang,telling them they want a cut of it,and ended up leaving tipping acid into this blokes face,not only that but they dident actually relise how bug this gang was that they were dealing with,so they ended up hireing hitmen to take them out,1 went on witness protecton the other got away and still is living now,great film great book but 1 of the most violent brutel strorys of the 90s,

I prefer British gangster films because the characters are more intelligent, complex and interesting. They aren't the cardboard cut-outs american films use. There is also less of a reliance on guns and senseless violence than American films.

Once Upon a Time in America was a great movie as was Goodfellas, The Godfather series, The Untouchables (Yes, I know it's more about Eliot Ness than the gangsters he pursued), Bonnie and Clyde, etc. So yes I love American gangster movies better.

How about " Snatch " by Guy Ritchie. One ofthe funniest and most voilent movies I've seen in a long time. A great Brutish import!

Being a Brit, I must go Gangsta w/ a touch of class all the way. I find BG movies a bit more real & scarry - and sometimes simply more rachus fun. " Lock, Stock & Barrell"

I love Guy Ritchie movies...Lock stock and two smoking barrels, snatch...those were great...violent...but great!!
