Did they in any way make up for the Holocaust?

A general rule of thumb about Hitler is that most people, especially of the last generation are entirely ignorant concerning the issue. All they know is Hitler = bad. With how much the school text books have blatently been re-written it's a wonder that the name Hitler even exist in them.

Another rule of thumb is that Stalin did far worse atrocities and killed more than five times as many people, including his own country men and his family.

However, because Stalin is linked to Bolshevism, which is linked to the jews, you hear less about him and more of Hitler.

If you already know the economical, national and social accomplishments that he achieved then there is no point asking the general public this question.

To understand the Nazi platform and their conquest would make you far more intelligent and educated than 99% of your peers.

True, Hitler did good things too, but his crimes are so overwhelming, that nobody will talk about them or credit him for them.

Let me name just a few:
- He forged a defeated, bankrupt and economically, socially and psychologically destroyed nation into a strong, self confident one.
- He constructed the German Autobahn Highway system, which later inspired other nations (the U.S. among others) to do the same.
- He got rid of the Gothic alphabeth.

This should be enough, before I will be accused of being a Hitler admirer, which I'm absolutely not.

Other than the fact that he was racist, insane, a terrible military tactician, a fascist, and kept refocusing his research money in the wrong directions, sure he was an ok leader. But, none of the stuff that he did that could be considered remotely good makes up for the fact he was a mass murderer only rivaled by other dictators. plus, he removed the democratic process, spread a message of hate across the world that still infects people's minds today, and he disarmed his subjects so that there was no way they could revolt.

Isn't that a bit like praising WAR for all the inventions it engenders whilst ingoring all the killing?

However, on top of the things kit mentioned, he took a relatively small country (of which he was not even a citizen) which was bankrupt and defeated in WWI and lead it to conquer nearly all of Europe, and a huge chunk of Soviet Russia. Now whether one agrees with the rightness of his cause, one has to concede that that was a remarkable accomplishment.

Oh yes, and he was an actual war hero in WWI, winning the Iron Cross second class.

The idea that he was a good person is ludicrous. He built the auto-bahn so his military could employ blitz-kreig more efficiently. He used the Jews as an excuse to unite an incite people to believe they were superior to the rest of the world. Kind of like modern Arab states. He invented ways to kill people more efficently ( gas chambers) He was at the top of medical experiments to. He changed his alphebet so it would be harder to break his military codes. He helped control the over population of the world by causing the death of over 20 million people. The only good Hitler did was to commit suicide. He believed Arabs were only one step above pigs and yet Arab countries want to follow in his footsteps. His legacy lives on Eh

We at that time the Germans were oppressed. They couldn't have an army. Life really sucked for them. Then Hitler came in and changed that around. He gave them jobs, and made everything better for all of them. He blame the Jews for everything, which made it more acceptable to the oppressed Germans. So he made an army and showed them what they really could do.
