It needs to be a real shape.

Take any 2D function who has no limits in graphic, rotate it and you will find a lot of "infinite" length shapes... For example sin(x) and cos(x) in 3D generates the "waves", hiperbola generates hiperboloid, parabola- paraboloid, a logarithmic function (a complex one) can generate "infinite landscape".... and so on...
