Because the idea is to make people think it's news while being the propaganda arm of the Republicans.

There is a documentary that examines the claim that Fox News is fair and balanced. The newspeople and commentators are given talking points each morning, and these are shown in the movie. If they don't slant their remarks as expected, they lose their jobs.

Yes they are legitimate news. You just need to know the difference when you're watching news as compared to opinion. For example, Sean Hannity and Alan Combs do not claim to be unbiased. There's is not so much a news program then a thought provoking debate program. Bill O'reilly on the other hand is news. Some disagree but really, the rightys think he's a lib and the libs think he's a righty. He's neither. He doesn't sell out for any party. People are smart and they see that and that's why his show is consistantly number one in the news ratings.

Some of the shows on Fox are commentary type shows, but there is news all day long and even in the evenings. It's no different from CNN, MSNBC or even network news stations who all report the news from their perspective, let's not forget Dan Rather, shall we? My suggestion to everyone I know is listen to everything you can, read all sides, somewhere in the middle is the truth! I do not trust the Internet for my news anymore that I trust any other venue.

I think that the Fox News slogan "Fair and balanced news" is very tongue in cheek. I think they use it to poke fun at the "liberal" news outlets who they feel demonstrate a left wing bias in their news.
