As an American deeply concerned with what happens all over the world I can say you are absolutely right. George W. Bush and his neo-conservative friends are the true terrorists. They do not stand for America's traditional Ideals nor do they support our constitutional rights. The only thing they are concerned with is filling their wallets with $$. They make their money off of oil and war and will continue to terrorize anyone who stands in their way. They said they were gonna catch bin ladden but I've yet to see them do so. Perhaps if they pulled out even a quarter of the troups in Iraq and sent them to look they might find him. But they continue to waste our money and our peoples lives. I pray everyday they will stop before more innocent people have to die to line their pockets with gold. I also hope the rest of the world remembers that it's not neccessarily the americans but the american government who is doing it. They feed us so many lies and it seems that americans don't even want to think about it they just accept it. It's very sad.

America's foreign policy has a built-in weakness in that it is the direct result of both the mix of personalities in office right now, and that it is driven by emotional responses to events.

However, terrorism within the US is an interesting issue. Our very size and diversity protects us from most results of terrorism. It is difficult to think of anything anyone could reasonably do that would really disturb the fabric of the country too deeply.

Take 9/11. meaning no disrespect to those who ARE directly touched by that tragedy, after the intitial shock and horror, most Americans were only very lightly touched by it. Such a huge and symbolic act, and most of our lives were pretty much the same before and after (apart from the emotional impact).

I have heard people speculate for the last several years about 'the next target'- a Superbowl, some key bridges, the White House, etc.- and yet... while we will still be touched, the question would be- would we be touched enough that the terrorists would accomplish their goals?

I have yet to hear of anything that would put America into a real state of fear.

In a physically smaller, more homogenous country, you could bomb clubs and that would change people's lifestyles. In America, you could bomb every club in New York and most of the country would go about its business. You could bomb 1000 clubs across the nation... and most of the country would be untouched.

Look at us- a gigantic blackout in the Northeast, massive hurricanes, huge fires, killer tornados- each doing more damage and causing more fear than all the terrorists on Earth... and our country is barely scratched.

I am not saying 'bring it on', but terrorizing a country the size of a medium US state is one thing. Terrorizing a country the size of a continent is something entirely different.

I can see why you think that, for our president is eager to get into the middle of everything, but think of it this way...we have saved hundreds of thousands of lives, while yes, we have killed some hundreds, maybe thousands. but the good far out ways the bad. the only people who want to attack America right now are those who did not get what they want, and instead of dealing with it like the rest of us, chose to find someone to blame...really immature and irresponsible if you ask me. and yes, while i admit that America has done some bad things, i am and always will be proud to be an American, and I'm sorry that you have such a bad view of us...and remember, its not the American public, who all the terrorist chose to go after, its the government officials who make all the decisions. so my question is, if the terrorist were so keen on taking out the USA, why do they attack the innocents instead of the guilty party's? that's what terrorism is. the killing of innocents for the purpose of making others mad or fearful.

Terrorism in the USA is indeed bubbling under the surface and as you will see by the date Britain has a big alert today.

The US as presumably, the Major power today, will therefore be in for targeting.

ALL countries are brainwashed in to their religious beliefs and governments manipulate there populations to suit their own ends.

Man is NOT a very nice animal really.... is he ?
