Make sure that you have a very strong platform to speak on and make sure that it is something that you can be very passionate about when you speak. I would suggest something that is a universally sympathized topic instead of something that is a hot button issue with a lot of controversy surrounding it. (i.e. opt for Lupus treatments and not terrorism). Also, the interview is very important and can either make or break you. Read up on a lot of current events and make sure that you know the names and positions of the main people in your state goverment (state pageants). Also, pick a talent that will make you shine, but will also be a people pleaser. I would suggest something that has a strong patriotic feel to it since that is very important right now. Lastly, they say that it is not a "beauty" pageant, but it IS and it will always be so make sure that you are starting to eat right, getting plenty of rest and concentrating on fitting into that evening gown/bathing suit. Starting now will give you a jump on the competition. Good luck to you!!!

What kind of pageant? Know the pageant and find out about the judges and what catagories that they typically score highest. Prepare - don't be caught off guard with anything and make sure you stay relaxed and that your smile doesn't go too out of hand. Realize that no one plans to shoot you for coming in runner up so if you're natural and yourself, you'll score more points.

In no particular order:
One, get in shape if you aren't. Yoga, Pilate's, aerobics, anything that is toning and lengthens muscles.
Two, practice your talent. If you don't have one, find one. You don't want to be awkward on stage.
Three, practice walking in your heels and in the clothing you plan on wearing. You don't want to step on the hem of your dress, fall on too high heels, or be embarrassed in a bathing suit and heels.
Four, if you plan on tanning, make sure you have no visible lines.
Five, educate yourself on popular subjects that you may get questioned on. You want nicely prepared answers for them, You don't want to sit there thinking when they ask something. Popular topics include, but are not limited to, crime, abortion, war, environment, dating, sex, anything controversial. Take a minute if you need it to compose yourself so that you convey a clear thought. "Um, Er, Like, Uh" are not acceptable pause words!
Six, smile big and sincere.
Seven, wear what looks good on you. Go for classy and elegant, not sexy.
Eight, make eye contact with the judges, audience, and the hosts. Don't look at the back wall or stare off into the lights.
Nine, have fun and be nice to the other girls.
Ten, be yourself. Don't try to be anyone else.
Good Luck!

Tyr to get to know and be equally friendly to all the competitors.

Each time you are set to step out on to the stage, first take a deep relaxing breath to settle your nerves and smile. Remember, you're having fun.

A little vaseline on your front teeth will keep your lips from sticking.

Remember to hold in your tummy and exhibit good posture. especially when sitting. Chin up. Shoulders back.

Answer judges' questions briefly and succinctly.

Remember, all you can do is your best. Be proud of that.

Good luck and have a good time.

I even have an concept on your makeup. an eye fixed shadow like the colour of your dress, that comes up in a flick top previous your eyebrow. a easy lip gloss could artwork nicely too. basically easy blush on your cheek bones. you need to curl your hair.

Yoga works great - - Makes your mind and body work and it is proven to portray more confidence. Which is very attractive. Grab a mat and hit the studio.
