The field is wide open and the opportunities are tremendous.
The background you will need is Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Physiology.
The applications are broad ranging from scanning and monitoring to radiation and life support.
This a very difficult and an exiting field. I would like to stress again its multidisciplinary aspects.

Medical physics is mainly radiation physics. it deals with radiation in diagnostics (less exciting and opportune) and radiation in therapy in therapy of cancers. very good prospects if u are trained well either in your course or first job. its done in B.A.R.C. india and a few other places. visit ur local medical college with radiation therapy facility and speak to a radiation physist.
