I had a dream the other day in which I walk out of a building into a car park and there was a crowd of people gathering around looking at something. When I went to look at it, it was a huge dog, a great dane, the size of an elephant lying down with its head up and panting away. As I went to stroke it someone pulled me away and I was pushed out of the crowd.... end of dream!

Weird huh?

I wouldn't really bother in finding out what it meant but its so vivid and I remembered it very clearly the morning when I woke up.

And no... I wasn't drunk or under the influence of any illicit substances ;-)

So anyone know why? or am i just insane?

Sometimes you just have dreams!

You moved from the security of a building into an open and public area (the car park), this indicates an issue with confidence. A dog is symbolic of loyalty and friendship, the size of the dog is indicative of the importance this issue holds. You are looking for loyalty amongst friends, family or partner. Someone around you is causing you concern. This person is not, at this moment, seen as a threat (the dog is calm).
Or it may be someone you have just met (and would like to know better) but is not giving you signals for a firm and trustworthy relationship. The crowd that pull you away as you approach the dog is your own self-defence mechanism keeping you safe.
If this is a message being sent to you, then you should be careful around this person until you are absolutely sure that they are genuine. If this is your own natural instincts to be careful, then you must slow down your approach - you are moving too fast and may miss important signals from this person.
Listen to your instincts, trust them.

Some people might say that a dream has no meaning to it. But I think that it has a lot to do with everyday life. You can go on yahoo and search your dreams but they don't let you give the whole story you just pick out the vivid images that you say and type that in like the word "dog". It would tell you the meaning of the dog in the dream. It is pretty neat. I used to go there a lot. Sometimes dreams don't mean anything and they could have been caused by what you watched on TV or what you heard somewhere. But I think most of the time dreams are telling us things. We just have to listen to what it wants us to know.

Well, if I were to take a guess, I'd say that you either had a fear of dogs as an infant or you were bitten by one as a toddler. The crowd represents peers and if it was varied then it would represent acquaintances old and new who you rely on to move you away from dangerous situations, though your confusion at being led away probably indicates a lack of trust towards close relatives or friends.
Does it make you insane? No. I once had a dream where I was being chased naked through a giant trifle by Zippy and George from Rainbow who were throwing Clanger shaped grenades at me and humming the Peruvian national anthem. Am I insane? No. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and feed the twelve headed lipstick monster who lives under my bed and survives on a diet made up solely of 16h century literature and the little, black, twisty liquorice all-sorts.

crowd = your social life
huge dog = curiosity, peer pressure
being pushed out, not accepted in social life

You probably have some peer pressure issues in your social life. Projecting a crowd could mean your social life and the dog is your conscience of peer pressure. Somehow you can't handle it from your reality. You vent it out in dream as if you are looking for acceptance. However, you don't get as if it was shown in your dream. This dream basically is about your social life. It may have something to do with you self esteem or shyness or lateness. You often get rejected or not accepted because of that.

I could be wrong, but that is how I see from your dream

Something seemingly harmless to you is taboo by society. They were protecting you from danger or they were protecting the dog from you. They didn't approve and the penalty was to be outcast.
Listen well to others who have your best interest in mind. Even though disagreement follows, remember the wisdom of the many opposed to the wisdom of the individual. Their point may be significant to your life and to theirs based on the decisions you make. People in your community are focused on this issue and will not tolerate liberal attitudes towards obvious lifestyle choices outside the norm.
There is something ahead for you to gain by this dream. Study diplomacy and negotiation. Find out the position of others before making final decisions. OK?

Probably you were thinking about something, or watching TV, and your mind just started to flash them in your dream that night in a weird randomly linked moments, that's what dreams are about.

F.Y.I. the human dreams every night but some of them remember it and others don't and think they didn't dream at all, but after a short/long while, say you were watching a movie then all of the sudden something strikes in your mind that this exact moment happened to you before and you have no idea when or how? and the answer is "It happened in one of your dreams".

Maybe you want to try something big many people are fascinated in, but at the same time society is scared of.
Maybe this means a risk you would like to take everyone else says you shouldn't. Guessing that you wanted to tough the dog might be, that you are fearless and other people are stopping you from doing your own thing.

Dog

To see a dog in your dream, indicate a skill that you have ignored or forgotten, but needs to be activated. Alternatively, dogs may symbolize intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection, and fidelity. Your own values and intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and succeed. If the dog is vicious and/or growling, then it signifies some inner conflict within yourself. It may indicate betrayal and untrustworthiness. If the dog is dead or dying, then it indicates a loss of a good friend. Alternatively, it represents a deterioration of your instincts.

Don't take this as absolute fact. I don't interpret dreams that often, but I will try.

The dog is something powerful but vulnerable. You care about it, but other people are afraid of it, and maybe they are pleased to see it in difficulties.

The dog may refer to a person, place or organisation. I cannot advise on what you should do about it, except go with what you feel is right, but don't let yourself be fooled. The dog in your dreams may be vulnerable, but it is still dangerous.
