I like them, they are powerful for a reason. I think to many people bash them for the wrong reasons. Their presedent is a fool, but they don't like him either. They are a young country that has had many mistakes but they have done alot of good as well.

First of all, I feel that "Americans" refers to people living in the United States - not all people living in North America are "Americans".
As a Canadian I feel a certain amount of frustration with the American government and to a much lesser extent the general populace. I have no major qualms with the average American but am annoyed when I see the stereotypical "loud-mouthed" American. The few can ruin the reputation for the majority.
On the whole - a good people who need to know more about the world around them.

Which ones? The North, South, Central, Upper French North ones or those down the bottom that dance tango?
And, in each of those Americas there are the 'naturals', the 'gringos/spics/yanks/or foreigners' or the 'uptight bunch' or the 'losers' or the 'celebrities' (cos we all got a few of those)...etc etc etc.
Everyone is different so different feelings for everyone.
Now if you are asking about how 'we' feel about the American leaders, well... that's a politics question!
Peace!
Oh, and I'm originally from the Big Bang or Adam & Eve, or whichever tale you believe in, but currently reside in Australia (Cue "I Still Call Australia Home" by Hugh Jackman from his Broadway musical).

They are human - so my brothers and sisters. Most I know are lovely people and very good friends. Some, like many others in this world, are not the kind of people I would choose as friends but that goes no way to condemning Americans as a whole (of course). In general, I feel that their culture is based far too much on money and the making of it - that, of course, affects those Americans who don't subscribe to that view and makes them unhappy, for which they are due much sympathy.

Americans can come from anywhere, anyplace, any belief, as long as they plant the seed of the vision and dream that America grew out of. "... freedom of men under government is to have a standing rule to live by, common to every one of that society, and made by the legislative power erected in it. A liberty to follow my own will in all things where that rule prescribes not, not to be subject to the inconstant, uncertain, unknown, arbitrary will of another man, ..."

As an American, I can say that most of them are arrogant selfish bastards that feel superior to every other nationality. The whole "God Bless America" "These colors don't run" and "Don't mess with Texas" mentality is pretty embarrassing. People are American through the luck of birth, yet they seem to view it as some god appointed blessing. There are some great ones though. But as a nation, we currently suck.

It depends on the day of the week, the time of day, and on national and international events.
Do you think these answers would be the same if you were able to get answers from the poor, the oppressed or from crime ridden neighborhoods? Probably not.
For this reason I believe the answers you will receive will be skewed in favor of Americans.

Most Americans are decent, hard-working, productive, and positive citizens. There is a small percentage of them that belong in prisons or work camps for the rest of their lives.
It irritates me that foreigners speak disparagingly of the American people - when they themselves never set foot in the US, never met an actual American, or only listen to anti-American propaganda to form their opinions.
They fail to see that it's our government that makes unpopular decisions and policies. In reality, the ordinary citizen doesn't have much to say about those.
I also think people think it's "cool" for some Americans to speak poorly of their own country. They're entitled to their opinions, and they're protected by our Constitution. That's one of the things that makes our country second to none!
I wonder sometimes if people that hate us are in fact jealous of all we have? Hmmm.

Well, I am American, and I could say the typical response of "I love us!" But I feel that many of my countrymen are way too arrogant about being American. I hate it when people act like we're better than other people in this world just because this is America. I love living in this country, but I know I'm not any better than anyone else because of that.
