It is a national hobby. They are never more happy than when having a good moan.

1. Because up to 6 years ago everyone got a grant and now we have loans, which we have to pay back, mine could take me at least the next 50 odd years if I pay back the just the amount which the government is allowed to take straight for my pay packet.

2. We may have free health-care, but the waiting lists are so long for some operations that we either have wait, go private or travel to another in order to afford to go private.

3. They do harass known criminals.

4. The people who do that are stopping the government from spending money on improving the NHS, education and other services which will benefit the whole of society.

5. Everyone is entitled to child benefit, the amount depends on how much you are earning.

6. You should try travelling on some of the small country roads and you will discover that they are full of pot holes.

7. That's a valid point.

I agree with all of those points; they may not be perfect but they're better than in most countries.

That said, there are plenty of things which aren't so good.

All the same, I feel privileged to live here, and I don't whine all the time. To be fair, I read the mail, and some of the stuff in there is pretty outrageous (I never said true), and that can irritate you, but despite the shortcomings it's still a bloody decent place to live!

Except I think not having to work and being able to live off benefits is disgraceful and should never be allowed for more than a couple of months at most, unless they are very seriously ill. It doesn't do the country any good whatsoever.

1. We have to pay the student loan back .
2. NHS sucks!!
3. The police force do harass people.
4. Whatever , I work for a living. Please see shows like Jerry springer or any yank chat show for people who sit on their *** all day and get paid for it. . .
5. Have you tried living of child benefit , I know if I had to i couldn't manage.
6. Have you ever visited the north scotland - they have the most fatalaties on the roads in the whole of the uk. I wouldn't call that safe. . .
7. To work in whatever field you want it can take years of training and i do believe this is the same all over the world.

Get a life and stop complaining about the brits complaining.

heres why
1. No one gets money to go to school, and if you fail to go to school your parents can be jailed, even if they are unaware of your absence.
2. Yes we get free healthcare, however, my mother has been waiting 3 and half years for a simple carpul tunnel op, our sick get left in understaffed, germ infected corridors for days, before they die.
3. Our police stop and search without having to give a reason, and if you are of any colour other than white, you will be stopped and searched regularly.
4. I dont know anyone who works (but does nothing than sitting on their arses all day)
5. Yes we get child benefit, but our tax and national insurance are higher than any other european country.
6. Our roads are pot holed, congested and we get charged £8.00 per day to drive in central london.
7. Anyone can aspire to be anything they want, putting it into practice though is not a countrywide concern, its down to a person and if they want it enough.

you'd be surprised about our police force so don't even get me started on that one,and you'd be surprised about the laws in this country that allow children to be at a continuous disposal to paedophiles and throw someone with small kids out onto the street for nonpayment of rent when you work but still can't make ends meet.. me- i'm a positive person and always try to look at how lucky i am, but in certain areas we have good reason to say that things could also be improved.. i'm sure some things you yourself moan about would seem laughable to some people in GB.. and i'm not sure what gives you the right to judge us.. its not like you gotta live with us..

because I'm British, being indigenous to the UK its what i expect, i pay enough taxes for education (for ALL), free healthcare (for ALL), a reasonably decent law enforcement community, benefits for unemployed people, child benefit for families, decent roads and freedom of choice!! as the leaders of the industrial revolution, the birthplace of modern democracy and the English language ITS MY RIGHT!!! I LIVE HERE AND EXPECT IT TO BE PERFECT AND THE ENVY OF MANY COUNTRIES!!! SO LEAVE IT OUT OK!

Because politicians keep telling everybody that everything is wrong, and if you watch the news or the weather it is so negative, they keep telling us that we are going to run out of money when we are older, no one can afford to buy a house, going to run out of water ,no more fuel to power our homes and the weather..its either to hot or to cold! What we need is some of that american feel good factor!

For those of you who speak American instead of British, I recently learned from a British staff member that "winge" is some weird British word meaning to complain.

compared to who? anyway thanks for sterotyping a whole country, get out. if we listened to the socialist teachings of karl marx, the world would be a better place. We have earned the right to windge anyway because we basically made the world what it is today.
