My doctor told me to use protection for the first week. It take a week to be effective.

I believe the patch takes 3 weeks to protect from pregnancy. The best thing to do it check out the information booklet that comes with the patches or ask your doctor.
I was on the patch your about a year and it worked great for me.

Most birth controls take atleast 1 month to protect. But your body will need atleast 3 months to get use to the birth control.

I would wait at least a month, just to make sure of the side effects and also make sure it does not come off...caust that happens sometimes....and make sure you don't put it in the same place twice, it will make a rash....and know it will not prevent AIDS or any other STDs....USE A CONDOM! and Good Luck!
