Take your pick. Any and all of the above contribute to obesity, and not just in children 10-13 either.

Eating too much fast food, junk food, and instant meals. People don't cook nutritious meals and healthy snacks anymore. Mothers and Dads allow computers, TV, and video games to be a babysitter for their children. Instead of tending to their children and taking them outside to play, they let them sit on their fannies and do nothing, physically. Therefore, kids are getting little or no exercise. Many of the schools have even stopped recess and PE, which was all the exercise that some children got. No wonder our children are fat and lazy. Kids think you are punishing them if you tell them to go outside to play. What a sad example of the state of parenthood today.

xbox, tv, cell phones and the internet. lots of sitting around & not playing outside or getting exercise

cheesy poofs, soda, captain crunch & mcdonalds. all easy to give kids because it takes no time and it tastes good, but with no nutritional value, it makes them fat and depletes the vitamins/minerals necessary to build healthy bodies.

That's because they are growing-up children. They must get their priority straight. They might have problems with loved ones, or with their specials.
