which type will be suitable for my pc, I saw there are those under IDE, SATA and SATA2, how do I tell which type of Harddisk I need to get ? I am currently using a Dell, bought abt 3 years ago.

look in your pc...if your current hard drive has a grey wide cable attached to it, it's IDE (which being 3 years old, i'll guarantee you it is IDE)...

SATA is new and uses a very small cable attachement...SATA2 is just a faster version of SATA...these will not work with your current setup if you have IDE...

You probably have an IDE only system - SATA was just coming out then. Check Dell's site for your model to be sure. The harddrive will come with instructions.

check your manual to see what harddisk types you can use, no manual, check online. No SATA mentioned, then IDE.

II think you will be safe with an IDE.
