Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) is often an injury associated with repetitive motions (whether at work, play or recreation). This is often the result of a repetitive action, that over time wears down the tissues that suddenly give in what would normally be a common action. Unless this repetitive action is removed or at least modified, the chances of this condition reoccuring is quite high.
Rest and ice are essential treatment options. Rest, so the tissue has time to heal, and ice to keep inflammation and pain in check. (common use: 10-20 minutes on 20-60 minutes off / 3 times a day) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may also help to reduce pain and swelling. To help in the prevention of re-injury it's key to have a stretching and strengthening routine. Manual or massage therapy is a very important aspect of the healing process because it aids stretching out tight tissues and in the reduction of muscle spasms.
As a side note, I'm curious if you were you actually diagnosed with this. I only ask because elbow pain of this sort can arise from a number of other conditions such as; joint instability, muscle weakness, elbow arthritis or radial tunnel syndrome. Each of those requires a different sort of treatment.

I had a cortisone shot 5 weeks ago, my elbow felt fine for 3 weeks but then my elbow pain came roaring back worse than before the injection. I have been using this tennis elbow secrets program now for 5 days and my elbow feels much better. I can really feel my arm getting stronger as each day passes.

Naproxen works well on relieving the pain. It is an anti inflammatory drug. Your pain is caused by over use and strain on the tendons in your elbow and shoulder. A tendon is like a small tube that has a wire going through it. Over use and over loading of this tendon, results in the wire cutting into the housing of the tube, Therefor becoming inflamed and swollen causing discomfort and pain. The only cure for this is resting of the arm and shoulder. The less you use this arm the quicker it will heal. Put your arm in a sling or get a elbow brace, stop bending it. My elbo was so bad it took almost two years for it to completely heal.

Hi, Sorry to hear of your pain, you want to be carefull of that painkilling gel, if it is the one I used then after a few days the skin goes dark red like as if it is sunburned, gets very dry and cracked and it hurts as well just making your pain not only inside the elbow but outside as well. All I found that worked was ibuprofen tabs, at least 400mg and as much rest for the arm as you can give it. Good luck and be careful.

What worked for me was pressure above the elbow joint. Also the homeopathic remedy anarca.
If all else fails try the Edgar Cayce remedy of Castor oil packs. Simply soak some Wool flannel in castor oil wrap the affected area. Then over wrap it with plastic wrap and apply a heating pad.
You have to use real wool flannel though.
The Castor oil pack saved my life!

Go talk to your GP nicely (because you can't get these without a prescription) and say to him/her DF118 (these are Dihydrocodeine (30Mg) with Paracetamol (500Mg). You are allowed up to 8 tablets a day BUT don't drive, or use machinery because they will make you drowsy. These should reduce the pain until the body heals itself - this may take several weeks.

Consult an orthopaedic surgeon.
Mine recommended Vitamins B6 and B12 daily.
I took the supplements and have had no further problems. You need to ask your doctor for correct dosages (varies with body weight).
Good luck!
