I'm assuming here that you are pregnant and you and your husband do not know the sex yet. If so, congratulations!!

I heard girls' heart rates are faster than boys (above 140 or so). But, I guess it all depends on who you hear it from.....

My baby boy's heart rate was always in the 150-160 range. I am pregnant again, and have only heard the heart rate once (at 12 weeks), and it was 155. We are not finding out the sex of this baby though, and I didn't really believe in the old wives tale about the heart beat in the beginning of my first pregnancy because I knew he was a boy.

I made the decision not to find out the sex of this baby because there aren't many surprises left in life. Plus, I"m due at the end of January, and I think it'd be tons of fun at Christmas time to have a sort of "lottery of guesses" for what the baby will be, how much it will weigh, and when I will deliver. I want each family member/friend who wants to participate to pay a dollar to put in their entry...it goes in a pot and whoever comes closest wins the pot!! I'm looking forward to it! Anyway, that's off the topic, isn't it?

Hope this info helps you though...I hope you can prove him wrong!

If you carry low it's a boy, if you crave salty stuff it's a boy, if you look like you did pre pregnancy (skin and hair is still nice) it's a boy, heartbeat 140 and under boy, if people can't tell you're pregnant from behind it's a boy. If you carry high it's a girl, if you crave sweets it's a girl, heartbeat over 140 girl, if you gain weight all around waist and butt it's a girl, if you are looking worse than before pregnancy it's a girl (something about the girl is taking your beauty).

Heartbeats

One belief that has been around for some time, and even had some acceptance in the medical community at one point, is that the fetal heartbeat differs for boys and girls. If you're having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140. However, that pesky science has reared its little head again to say that this is complete fiction. A baby's heart rate is not affected by its sex until it is born, when a girl's heart rate will increase considerably compared with boys during labor.

I haven't heard that one. Though there is one where how high the mother is carrying the child, depicts the gender. Not sure the exact facts.

i haven't heard that one, but i have heard the one about bad heartburn being because the baby has a lot of head hair lol...and the one that says if you are carrying your baby high it is a girl, low means it is a boy. good luck and congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!!

Higher the beat is, it's a girl... lower is a boy.

This isn't true though, so it really doesn't matter.
