latest terror threat, how would it work? isn't hand luggage checked? mine always is.?

I know airport security is pretty poor still, especially in the UK, compared to many other countries, but even so, how the hell can you just get high explosives on a plane in your hand luggage?

I heard on the news that the police are very suspicious of liquids in cans, babies bottles etc. They are looking specifically for those kinds of things. That suggests some pretty specific intelligence, don't you think?

As other people have mentioned, the details that have come through seem to indicate that the threat would have come in the form of liquid explosives. This is why liquids are specfically being prevented from entering the cabin space.

Unfortunately explosive chemicals can come in almost any physical form. So, for example, it's not difficult to have a hair-gel tube filled with an explosive substance that looks like the gel. It can also be made fairly liquid and almost transparent. Plastic explosives can also be molded to fit into./around almost anything.

The plot included a plan to assemble the bomb in flight with multiple terrorists on board would each carry an ingredient that would pass security by itself but when they are all added together, they make an explosive.

I keep daily track of my premonitions, My son and I were at the mobil gas station on congress st. Portalnd Maine just prior to 911. I watched the three men in front of us, two in van one outside van, two on cell phones. My stomach immediately ached and I told my son those are very very bad people. A few days later the one outside the van appeared on the front page of the newspaper Mohamad Atah (sp) An example of the accuracey of my premonitions is. Sorry but this involves another gas station. The mobil on congress st. Port. Maine I was tired so I reminded myself to remember to remove the gas nozzle from my car before driving off. Approx. 5-10 seconds later, someone drove off with the nozzle still in their car and ripped it out of the pump dragging it for some distance. This is only one of the many that has come to me.I keep a log of my premonitions to see if there is a connection. My friends and family get freaked at the accuracy. My son and his friends get very quiet when I call my son and say be carefull, or don't do this particular thing. He says dad we were just talking about that They seem to be not only about the future but also the past. (events that I was not personally made aware of. All I can say at this time is that we ain't seen nothin yet. We will be smokescreened (our attention will be drawn away from the real thing) They are here and they will try to harm us from within. My time is limited so I won't be able to come to this Q&A session often. Just be a good person and refuse to accept the bad behavior of others. Tell your officials their abilities to protect us are unnacceptable, outline the changes you want, then collect petitions to present to congress. Do at least one thing to bring about change. GET OFF YOUR ASSES.

i have travelled many times to many places and most of the time my hand luggage was never checked i have been to england 5 times and out of those five times my hand luggage was checked twice and just imagine my last name is Rahim.

It was liquid form which wouldn't show on the x-ray.
