truth will always prevail

Having just gone through a "recovery" of telling the truth then I would have to say Lie, Lie, Lie! But of course depends on the situation.
For my self, I drunkenly mentioned to my wife that I thought teachers should uphold their teachings.

Science teachers should look or at least seem crazy, history teachers should be boring, woodwork teachers should be good friends with the Arts teachers and (here's where it fell down) PE/PD teachers should look like the impossibles that are shown on TV.
My wife, a PE/PD teacher of 20 years, wife of 2 months, collapsed in tears and rationalised that I was calling her ugly.
My honesty hurt my wife's feelings, so the next time, I will draw a smile

A truth that draws a tear because once you speak the truth, it may hurt, but you are free from backlash that hangs like a monkey on your back.

Good question! I used to flatter people and tell them what they wanted to hear. Then I felt that this was dishonest and went through a period where I didn't flatter anyone unless I really meant it and I also tried being honest if my opinion was sought. However, I found that with this approach, I had many fewer friends and people tended to either like me less than before or they totally ignored me. Now I have gone back to my first approach of flattering others, etc., although not as much as I did back then. Also, I seldom give my true opinion. It just works out better this way. It keeps the peace and makes others happy.

I feel even though sometimes the truth hurts it's better to be honest and straight forward rather than a liar.

My mom always says a lie has short legs and has a tendancy of coming back to you.

Lying just isn't worth it.

truth cuz evern though you make someone happy with a lie, the truth wont ever hide. someday the person will find out the truth and that same person will be hurt...so why not tell the truth before when you know they will find out the truth later.
