My Modem is not working so I went to device manager to see if I needed to enable it. But the Port (COM ) is missing. I have used my fax almost every day in the past. I can't figure out what happened.

Click START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL. Click ADD HARDWARE. The wizard will search, then manually add a com port.

You may firstly need to check that the device is on, then check your connection cable, it may be that the connection cable has been damaged or the port on your computer has been damaged which could be a result of frequent removal and insertion of the connection cable. If thats the case, you might want to get some new hardware, but be sure before you do that. Or maybe its as simple as restarting the system or reinstalling the necessary drivers. Hope that helps.

Are there any unknown devices? You may need to install another driver. Are your COM ports enabled in your system BIOS?
