I don't know but it is unusually hot in many areas of the world. In my area of the US, for the period of Jan1 2006 to end of July 2006 we had the highest avg high temps ever on record. In my area we had days in mid-winter that were in the mid-90's F.
Of course the No Nothing & Flat Earth Anti-Science party members will tell you there is no such thing as global warming. I don't know - but I am wise enough to NOT rule out the possiblity.

Global warming is a farce.
Most of the current record temps were set long ago.

It's hot here too! There is solid evidence with support of pictures that the ice is melting in Antartica. It is hot there too, the poor polar bears cannot find a place to sleep.
