Where are the local spots on the Las Vegas strip?

I'm leaving to Vegas August 16. I would like to hang around local areas while I'm there and not only tourist areas like the last time I went, so can ye' help me? Where's a good place for billiards not far from the strip?

The locals do not hnag out on the strip. They go to the off strip places like Palace Station, Green Valley, Gold Coast, Red Rock. The local tend to play the card games, like video poker and black jack and these places have the most of these. Try the Orleans also.
