The bad new is that anytime liquid gets into a computer, the damage is done before a technician can get in there is clean it up. I may be wrong, but I think that it is gone for good. This is the reason, I keep all liquids away from the computer area.

Do NOT assume all the liquid is out of there because itseems dry on top. It's very likely you've got liquid inside it and it's still wet. I've seen laptops two days after a spill and it was still wet under the keyboard. Remove all the drives batteries, etc. Look on dell's website and find the tech manual for it and remove the keyboard. If you're lucky all you have to do is replace the keyboard - about $20-30. If you're not lucky you've already damaged your system.
Also, if you had sugar in your coffee, your keys will start sticking and never been as good as they had been.

take andy disks out of the laptop. Disconect any wires ect, unplug it and then take your hair dryer and dry it with the blow dryer on the lowest setting. this works.
The keys are going to stick for a bit once nice and dry go to a computer shop and buy the canned air and blast the keys with the canned air . If doen right away there will not be much harm to the lap top.
It works, I have droped my cell phone and laptop in the lake a few times already this year and it works everytime.

I would guess You use sugar in your coffee like most people do. The sugar fused together and caused some circuits to short.... You see one day I was working on this one Lady's computer and looked at the power supply and there it was. Dust and cigarette smoke caused a bridge to short out the Power supply. It was like a string or elastic band of some kinde..
