Okay... let's take this in stride...
First... Communism and The Cold War... Well... while Communism is still around, it wasn't much of a threat then, and still isn't today. It's a method and means of running a country. I'd say that the Liberals were right back in 68... it wasn't a threat.
Second... Islam is a rather peaceful religion, yet you seem to want to paint all muslims with the same paintbrush. You say that there has been a Jihad against the west for 1400 years...
1400 years, huh? So, the early 600's? Ahh... Western Civilization back in the 600's... a lovely time. Oh, wait... 'Western Civilization' wasn't really defined, unless you talk about the Greeks and the Persians... and it wasn't religion that sparked these conflicts pal... it was territory.
So... now. Let's talk about fanaticism. Seeing as you want to tag various religions based on the actions of a few... I could bring up the Crusades... I could bring up The Spanish Inquisition... hell... I could bring up Pat Robertson wanting to assasinate the president of Venuzuela... damn... those Christians are a psycho lot! Maybe we should round them up and do away with them! When will the rest of the world wake up!
Oh, wait... I come from a Christian background... nevermind.
Oh... maybe it's just Americans... Hmm... they've been in several conflicts that didn't really pertain to them. Vietnam, Korea, Yugoslavia, and most recently, they waged war in a country that even their government has admitted was no threat to them (No WMD, no ties to Al-Qaeda) ... in order to "fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here" ... seems kinda ridiculous, don't you think?
Oh, wait... that's not ALL Americans that think this way... just a few (and, thank god, fewer as the days go on)... can't paint them ALL as bad.
Now... when you figure that there are approximately 1.2 BILLION Muslims in the world (about 22%), and according to the World Almanac in 1995, almost 6 Million Muslims living in the US...99.999% of which live a peaceful, productive, moral life in the country that they love... can you HONESTLY say that it's Muhammed's fault?
It's the fault of a few idiots, and their followers. Attack them... not the religion... not the people...
My question is, do you even KNOW what these fanatics want? And don't give me that crap about "They want to destory Western Society!" because it isn't true. Do your homework and get back to me... you'll see it has nothing to do with your society and values... it has nothing to do with your beliefs, religious or social...
And let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

You should really read more. Turn off FOX and Rush and open a book. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan both pays for terrorist, that is fact.
17 of the 19 hi jakers were Saudi. Bin Laden is Saudi. Bush says Bin Laden is not a priority. Bin Laden has admitted he planed Sept. 11th. and Bin Laden is in Afghanistan not Iraq. You really need to get a clue on the facts.
Your own Hero Bush has said "he wants more illegals not less".
Your own Hero Bush has also said "this is not a war on Islam".
anyone being Liberal can not change what your hero has said.
the problem is that your hero is brain dead. No Terrorist in the world would face our Marines in a fight, none. They are all cowards, they do the dirty work behind our backs, just like in Nam, no different. Guerrilla warfare can not be won, we learned that in Nam. The Soviets also learned that in Afghanistan, and they lost how many? The NSA is recording this answer. BTW, the media is Conservative owned and controled by Neocons not Liberals as you claim.

My question is... What is a liberal?........ I have some liberal beliefs and some conservative beliefs.
The main thing is that I totally agree with you. Islamic fanaticism is a very serious threat to life as we know it. Just its existence at this stage has changed the fundamental freedoms of Americans. What happens when they expand their power to the point of actually being able to wage a serious war against those that they hate.
I believe the reason they aren't taken seriously is because their abilities at this point are limited.
Village Idiot..(Below). Hmm seems to fit. If you will notice this was directed at the few fanatics and not the whole religion.

Let me see, in 1968 I had a chevy and was only two years away from being in the Army. We had Nixon ( another republican) elected in a land slide! The communist threat has mostly evaporated since then.
Liberals do take the war on Terror seriously, and take the Constitution pretty seriously as well. I should remind you that it was a democrat that led the US through WWII. A republican that took us in to Vietnam.
Because some people want to see better health care for people, better jobs, and a fair social structure you think they aren't concerned about terrorists? Would a liberal invaded Iraq in the first preemptive strike in American history? I doubt it.

When will America wake up and see that we are in the midst of a facist state?
Since 2001 republicans have refused to acknowledge the facist threat. Today, recent events point to the growing influence within the right that is unmoved by the advance of facism.
Only when the right and the right-wing media realize that countries world-wide are at risk of being invaded by a facist state will the fight finallybe taken seriously.

Probably the same time that others realize what a threat the Bush Administration is to the whole Earth, and how it has screwed up the globe monumentally so far more than any other government in history.. not to mention making more money for itself, and more weapons spending than any other in history too.

I would like to see the extremist element within Islam eliminated. I would like to see Muslims control their own community in eliminating its extreme element.
It's time for Muslims to take accountability for their religion and culture. Stop spinning, and address the fact that the Muslim culture is one of the most oppressive and violent cultures, against its own people, and certainly against other cultures.
For those who believe that the extremist element in Islam is small, the numbers are staggering. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in this world. Lets take a very liberal view that only a very small percentage of Muslims are exterme, while the rest of the Muslim world is very peaceful. So if only 10% of Muslims have extreme point of views, and may be a threat, and must be dealt with, meaning dealing with 120 million Muslims! How about 1%? Then you must deal with 12 million Muslims. How about 1/10 of a percent? Then you must deal with 1.2 million Muslims. The numbers are staggering! How do you propose dealing with even the "very low" figures of 1.2 million Muslim extremists?
It would be to the benefit of the World to rid of Hezbollah, Hamas, the Syrian and Iranian regime. It must be done to finally have a chance for peace.

Liberals take the terrorist threat very serious,,And they want to fight terrorist as much as anybody,
Bush has started this needless war In Iraq that is distracting and deplete our resources from the real fight against the real terrorist.
He started the war out of incompetence and never changed his way of thinking.
(If you attack the wrong people the fight is worth nothing.)
Stop the war in Iraq and go after the real terrorist.

I don't know even after 9/11 they don't. I think its because it is a relativly small threat to thier daily lives. This is because of government has done an excellent job domestically to stop any threats of terrorism. It's just because it's not in their face and they like to give people the benefit of the doubt and pretend that well maybe they wont kill me, I didn't vote for Bush, etc.
