You should be safe as long as you have a good virus protection for your computer. You should also add a spyware/trojan protection to your computer because most downloads have trojans, not viruses. Once your protection detects a virus or a trojan, it will quarantine it and you may delete it.

You cant create a virus. There are hackers out there who try to think of ways to screw up people's computer so they usually use an old virus, but they change the code around so that it travels to a person's computer a different way.

Just downloading a virus won't hurt you, but if you open the file with the virus that's when it gets installed. It depends how the file is if the antivirus will catch it quickly enough or not. To create a virus, you just need to know how to program.

OK, so you have this "free" software - if something goes wrong with it, what kind of recourse do you have from limewire? None.

Once you install someone else's software on your computer, your computer is no longer yours. Their program can put whatever it wants on your system. It doesn't have to be a virus to be a royal pain in the *** to your system and make it practically inoperable.

Viruses are created every day - most of which are variants of older viruses. You do not need to open a virus to be infected with it - many of Windows' flaws have proven this. My company was hit with one two years ago - it spread from machine to machine BY ITSELF.

Don't be so cheap, BUY the darn songs you want to listen too.

That depends. The record companies are fighting back by imbedding destructive files disguised as music. If your virus program is able to catch new viruses and 100 percent of them (hint: no product can) then you're fine.

But once you execute the file, it's pretty risky to rely on the anti-virus.

Make sure you keep the virus definition file up to date by downloading the most latest one from the internet.

If is a spyware, don't mind if you open or not, he do his job.

I don't know how to create a virus, but is hard for you, you need to know more about viruses, and is illegal.
