Sad, yes. Also sad that athletes make so much. With athletes, their professional careers don't last for as long. But yes, doctors, teachers, and all those people contributing to the betterment of society are vastly underpaid. Unfortunate, but that's how it is. What to be done about it? Not sure. Actors entertain us, which is worth something. But certainly not what they earn.

I hate that we glorify actors so much too! What about teachers, parents, day care providers. These and many more are the foundations of becoming who and what we are today. And these jobs are tough! Being a parent it is tough and there is so little importance places on these roles. I think our system is soooo backwards in this regard. For real these are the people more stressed out and deserving of a decent pay check and yet they always get the shaft.

Actors actually make next to nothing. It's STARS who make money. And no, it's not for acting. It's for putting butts in seats.

Plumbers and lawyers and janitors and engineers are all more or less interchangeable. That's why they don't make more money. But only Tom Hanks can give you a Tom Hanks performance. By and large, stars get paid a lot of money because they're worth it.

If they didn't get the money than the $100 million the movie makes at the box office would all go to the producers and then you'd be b!tching that the actors don't get their fair share. If you have such a problem with it, stop watching E! and MTV.

Imagine the mental stress of pretending to be someone other than yourself. Also the surreal emotions of imaginary roller-coaster rides. And, the public attention forced upon the actor / actress. Plus, the expenses of keeping certain image(s). Not to mention "sucky" work hours and chaotic life. Not everyone could take those kinda crap and keep a smile with grace.

It's not just actors...look at proffessional athletes and singer/performers! They are able to make ridiculous amounts of money and act like idiots because our society places them on a pedestal. Even if one tries to avoid celebrity gossip it leaks in through the walls of our homes and workplaces. We have created hundreds of idols!

it's called capitalism and it's all about stealing the wealth created by labor and giving it to others. Entertainers are for distracting us from our slavery, and so are highly compensated by the man. day care workers, btw, are for destroying family connections and keeping us slaves. day care is death for a baby's soul. we really shouldn't pay them - the gov (we) should pay mommies.
